Single, monobloc stand alone unit with a tumble drier style of exhaust hose that is vented through an open window/door or into a ceiling void* (*dry exhaust type only). Single units are typically rated at approx 2 - 3.5Kw and therefore suited to small offices up to 25m², you can of course have more than one unit to serve a larger area.

Split Type units have a separate outdoor unit connected to the indoor unit by a flexible refrigerant line. These units are generally far more powerful than the single type and can be rated up to 6kW making them suited to larger areas (60m²) or small areas with high heat loads.

Q: What requirements are there for Portable Air Conditioning?
A: Access to either an opening window, external door or suspended ceiling is essential, so that the hot air can be exhausted via a flexible hose( single type) or connection to an external condenser ( Split Type). A 13amp electrical socket is the only other requirement.

Q: I do not have access to opening windows or a suspended ceiling, what can I do ?
A:
In this situation we may be able to assist you with an evaporative cooler depending upon your environment or you may wish to consider a cost effective fixed option. Please call us to discuss your applications.

Q: Do Portable Air Conditioning Units require installation?
A:
In the case of single type units, No. You simply place the exhaust hose out through an open window, or up into a suspended ceiling void (min 300mm), plug the unit into a 13 amp socket, switch on and enjoy. With split type systems the indoor unit is connected to an external unit via a flexible hose, the external unit can be hung from or sited on a window ledge or on any flat surface outside. This may require assistance from your handy assistant.

Q: What size Portable Air Conditioner do I need?
A:
Multiply the length x width x height of the room, this will give you your cubic capacity; Then,
a)  If you have measured in feet then multiply your cubic capacity by 4, this will give your Btu/h requirement.

b)  If you have measured in metres then multiply your cubic capacity by 140, this will also give your Btu/h requirement

c)  Click onto Hire Rates for your unit.

d)  If in any doubt whatsoever call us, we are there to help you.

e)  Please note that these calculation assume an office of 2 people with 2 computer screens. You will need to add 500 Btu's for every extra person and screen, and if you have large south facing windows you may well have to double your total Btu/h requirement. Again if in any doubt, contact us.
